Industry analyst Dr. Richard Curtin told the RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) market committee members last month the future is bright for RV wholesale shipments into 2019, following a potential “short, shallow recession” sometime in the fourth quarter of that year or possibly in early 2020. Dr. Curtin is the chief economist for the University of Michigan’s Surveys of Consumers and a longtime tracker of RV shipments for RVIA. He spoke during Committee Week in Washington, D.C. in early June.
He forecasts shipments to reach nearly 540,000 units this year and more than 550,000 in 2019, which would be the highest number in a half century.
