Investigators plan to begin sifting the remains of Forest River’s Elkhart, Indiana plant this week. The facility burned down on March 12. According to the South Bend Tribune, heavy equipment will move in this week to remove the roof and other heavy material so that the area is safe for investigators from the fire and police departments and a private fire investigator hired by the insurance company.
The plant, located at 411 County Road 15, was declared a total loss following the March 12 fire. No one was seriously injured. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
