Dealerships, and other businesses and organizations, are eligible for grant funding provided by Pennsylvania to encourage cleaner technologies and the reduction of NOx emissions statewide. Funding comes, in part, from Pennsylvania’s share of a national settlement with Volkswagen Group of America. For complete grant and rebate program information, visit www.dep.pa.gov.
Pennsylvania State Clean Diesel Grant: $2.6 Million Available
This program will reimburse a percentage of the total cost of exhaust control technology, engine upgrades and remanufactures, idle reduction technologies, vehicle/engine replacements, and other diesel emission reduction projects for trucks, buses, and some nonroad engines and vehicles. Applications must be submitted by February 28, 2019. Successful applicants will enter into a grant agreement with DEP and receive a reimbursement for the grant amount once the project work is complete. Partial and multiple project funding may be available.
Onroad Rebate Program: $12 Million Available
This program will reimburse a percentage of the total cost of repowering or replacing older diesel engines or vehicles with newer diesel or alternative fueled engines or vehicles, including all-electric engines or vehicles, for the following classes: Class 4-7 local freight trucks with model years 1992-2009, drayage trucks with model years 1992-2009, and Class 4-8 school or shuttle buses 2009 or older. Applications will be accepted through 2019 or until funds are exhausted.
Class 8 Truck and Transit Bus Grant Program: $6.4 Million Available
This program provides percentage reimbursement for the cost of repowering or replacing older diesel engines or vehicles with model year 2018 or newer diesel or alternative fueled engines or vehicles, including all-electric. Class 8 local freight trucks with engine MY 1992-2009 and at least three years of useful life and Class 4-8 transit buses with engine MY 2009 or older that have reached their useful life limit of at least 12 years or 500,000 miles. Applications are due on May 10, 2019 and September 23, 2019.
Level 2 EV Charging Rebate Program: $3 Million Available
This program will reimburse a percentage of the total cost to purchase and install Level 2 electric vehicle charging equipment on publicly accessible government or non-government owned property, or at workplaces or multi-unit dwellings that are not publicly accessible. Applications will be accepted throughout 2019 or until funds are exhausted. Successful applicants will be issued a rebate voucher for a specific amount to be redeemed once the project work is complete.
DC Fast Charging and Hydrogen Fueling Grant Program: $3 Million Available
This program will provide funding as reimbursement grants for the purchase and installation of DC fast charging equipment for electric vehicles or hydrogen fuel cell fueling infrastructure at community charging hubs, transportation corridors, and destination locations throughout Pennsylvania. Grant agreements will be from the date of execution to 24 months later. The maximum grant award for a project is $500,000.
