Effective January 21, 2018, PennDOT began a registration plate reissuance for older Pennsylvania registration plates that may be weathered, damaged, or unreadable.
Recently PennDOT has received numerous requests for assistance in determining the amount of credit a dealer/agent has available. To determine the amount of credit available for inventory purchase, dealers must refer to their latest packing slip received. The available credit balance appears in the top right corner of the packing slip, labeled ‘Account Balance.’ This balance is the total credit available for the dealer’s use as of the date on the packing slip.
Dealers are encouraged to continue tracking the number of D, E, F, Y plates they replaced as a result of this general reissuance. This will permit dealers to track their credits related to the general reissuance separate from any other credits owed to the dealer. This credit can be applied to future temporary tag orders. At the time the new order is received, dealers should review the fields again as illustrated above for any additional credits that may have been applied since the last order. If there is a discrepancy in the amount of credit that was received since the last credit that was applied, contact [email protected] PA.gov.
PennDOT is working on improvements to this process.
