U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) has introduced a bipartisan bill to strip the president’s authority to impose tariffs based on national security.

During a news conference in Washington, D.C., the senator said President Trump’s 2018 tariffs on steel and aluminum served no national security purposes and hurt Pennsylvania companies.

“Trade is good for America. About 1.4 million jobs in Pennsylvania are supported by international trade. But trade wars are very, very dangerous,” Toomey said.
