Winnebago Co-Founder Gerald Boman Dies at 82

Gerald E. Boman, 82, co-founder of Winnebago Industries, died June 20 in Palm City, Fla. Where he and his wife Mary Jo Boman had lived for nearly 30 years.

 

He started Winnebago Industries with his father-in-law, John Hanson, in 1959. He served in production and became the production manager in 1960; vice president of manufacturing and the board of directors in 1962, and chairman of the executive committee, CEO and chairman of the board in 1975. In 1977, he served as senior vice president and remained an active board member until his retirement in 2010.

 

During his tenure, Winnebago Industries exploded onto the national scene.
