Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed a proclamation on May 1st declaring May as Recreational Vehicle and Camping Month. May typically kicks off the camping season in Pennsylvania as temperatures warm and residents and visitors plan trips in the Commonwealth.
Pennsylvania is a travel destination with 124 state parks and 300,000 acres dedicated to outdoor recreation activities, including camping, hiking, picnicking, fishing, hunting, boating and more.
The governor also recognized the importance of the RV and camping industry in providing jobs from technical, professional and apprenticeship opportunities to campsite operations.
“I encourage all Pennsylvanians to discover why Pennsylvania is the Great American Getaway by experiencing the treasures of RV travel and camping and to take time this summer to explore the Commonwealth’s variety of state parks and outdoor activities,” Governor Shapiro wrote in the proclamation.
