Phase 1 of Pittsburgh's Point State Park Upgrades Complete
The $3.4 million project includes repairs to walkways and hardscapes, utility repairs, fountain lighting upgrades and leak repairs; and repairs, improvements and lighting upgrades on the City Side Lawn, flag bastion and parking lot. The park will also receive a landscaping refresh.
Pittsburgh will host the NFL Draft at Point State Park in April. Governor Josh Shapiro earmarked $50 million to prepare the Commonwealth to host the millions of visitors for the America250 and major sporting events, including $10 million to support the NFL Draft.
The governor also committed an additional $25 million for phase two of the park renovation, which is part of his 10-year plan to revitalize downtown Pittsburgh. It includes funds to add recreational activities to its cityside lawn and improve pedestrian access to the park.
