PRVCA Members Learn About Teamwork at Leadership Conference
Pennsylvania Recreation Vehicle & Camping Association members focused on Teamwork and Cooperation during the 6th Annual Leadership Conference, January 28-29, in Harrisburg. This is the 3rd seminar in a five-part Leadership series presented by the Pennsylvania College of Technology, a Penn State Affiliate.
During the 2-day conference, Instructor Katie Ecker discussed teams, including the benefits of working in teams; understanding the types of teams; what characteristics make up effective teams; fostering a climate to support teamwork; team roles and more. Ecker encouraged participation and working in teams throughout the seminar. Ecker, a training and development consultant, shared examples from her experience working with teams in the healthcare and restaurant industries.
“Katie was enthusiastic and kept my attention the throughout the whole conference,” says Jamie Walborn, sales manager, Meyer’s RV Harrisburg. “I think I will use the things we talked about for meetings, such as tips on holding more effective meetings and ways to implement them to have better results.”
Kira Engle, front office manager, Hersheypark Camping Resort, attended with a group of supervisors from the campground.
“There’s a lot of good information about building up your team members and making sure everyone feels supported,” she says. “There was new information about how to go about that and determining what people’s need might be.”
The Leadership Conference is free for all PRVCA members to attend. The next conference will focus on Workplace Challenges. It will be held in January 2026.
“I would recommend the conference to anyone in the camping and RV industry,” says Engle. “Honestly, I’d recommend it to anyone in leadership.”
