Registration is open for Education Days and Industry Preview Day, September 8-9, at America’s Largest RV Show in Hershey, Pa. Join the industry for a great lineup of training and networking.

On September 8, Dexter Axle trainer Bill Snider will present a level 2 refresher course on leaf spring axles with electric brakes, theory and service techniques. The course runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes lunch. Techs can complete a test administered at the end of the class to obtain 6 CEUs.

WFCO Technologies will offer a course on its 12V System from 10 – 11 a.m. The session will teach technicians how to simplify the 12-volt system and battery.

Trey Selman of the RV Safety and Education Foundation will present RV Weight, Tires and Matching Tow Vehicles to Trailers and Truck Campers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Selman will help techs keep their customers safe on the road by teaching them all the aspects of RV weight and balance, including proper ways to weigh the vehicle and the hazards with exceeding vehicle weight ratings. He will also discuss installing the proper tires and how to match a tow vehicle with travel trailers, 5^th wheels and truck campers. Open completion of the course, technicians can earn four CEUs by passing a test at the end of the course.

Mike Sokol is back to teach RV Electricity: Solar, Battery and Inverters for technicians from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. He will delve into the new advancements in solar panel efficiency and explore the characteristics of both lithium and AGM batteries. He will also discuss the growing trend of 48-volt systems in new RVs and compare them to the traditional 12-volt setups.

Chris Dougherty, Dougherty RV Consulting, will provide an electrical refresher course on level 2 and 4 from 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. He will review basic and advanced electricity, the DC and AC electrical systems in RVs; tools of the trade to include multimeters, electrical system testing and troubleshooting, and electrical safety.  In addition, he will review NFPA/NEC 551, system testing and troubleshooting, best practices, and multimeter usage. Following successful completion of a test at the end of the course, technicians will earn four CEUs.

Dometic’s trainer will offer Dometic Furnace RVTI Level 3 Training from 2 to 4 p.m. Technicians will learn troubleshooting and installation of Dometic furnaces. At the end of the class, technicians who pass a knowledge test will earn 2 CEUs.

Michael T. Keller, Keller Marine and RV, will finish out the day’s training with a class on Connecting to the Customer from 3 to 4 p.m. Join his interactive conversation to learn how to better connect in 2025.

On Tuesday, September 9, Lippert will offer its Furrion and Greystone Refrigerator and Air Conditioner RV Technician Training from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch included. The comprehensive course teaches techs all about the products and parts, installation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. This course is worth 6 CEUs when the technician passes a knowledge test.

Bill Snider from Dexter Axle will offer Advanced Axle Suspension and Brake Service (Level 3 chassis) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This course is designed for current Level 2 technicians working towards more advanced certification, with an emphasis on systems used in larger and more sophisticated towable RVs. Lunch will be provided during this 6 hour course. Upon successful completion of a test administered at the end of the course, technicians earn 6 CEUs.

Xantrex: Lithium Battery, Solar, Inverter and Charger technician training will be presented from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8. Alex Lung of Xantrex will teach this level 3 certification seminar, which provides comprehensive knowledge of Xantrex lithium batteries, solar power integration and sophisticated inverter/charger systems. This course provides four CEUs to technicians who successfully complete a test administered following the training.

MORryde will offer Level 3 training from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. This course will provide 3 CEUs in the Chassis Specialist category. Topics will focus on suspension & running gear upgrades, entry step systems and X-Brace stabilizers. Technicians who successfully complete the test will be awarded the CEUs.

From 12:30 -3:30 p.m., Cummins will present RV Generator and Engine Training for RV Technicians. The trainer will introduce Cummins’ new products and teach proper maintenance and operation of generators. Plus, the Cummins expert will share commonly used tools and systems to help techs diagnose generators and engines.

Chris Dougherty, Dougherty RV Consulting, is back with an RV Propane Systems Refresher from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. He’ll teach the basics on LP Gas, including propane and butane; safety, proper DOT cylinder inspections, ASME and DOT container equipment, proper testing, and review NFPA 1192 LPG standards. Students will receive hands-on training of the LFPA 1192 LPG system test. This course is worth 4 CEUs upon completion of a test administered on-site.

Mike Sokol, RV Electricity, will teach Essential RV Troubleshooting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hershey Lodge. This seminar equips technicians with the knowledge and techniques to confidently troubleshoot common RV electrical problems. Sokol will cover essential methods for diagnosing issues in both 12-volt DC and 120-volt AC systems and dim blub tester use for proper bonding and safety. Other topics include overvoltage, surge protection, resolving GFCI nuisance tripping and identifying and repairing dangerous hot-skin voltages.

All training sessions require pre-registration. They are free for PRVCA members to attend; however, PRVCA requests all technicians who have registered, but cannot attend, call the staff immediately. There are typically waiting lists for the classes.
